Sprout is Northwestern’s annual Winter Break trip that brings 25 NU students to Silicon Valley for a week of awesome site visits as well as conversations and events with incredible alumni. The trip, a week-long crash-course in entrepreneurship, offers a glimpse into life at innovative and entrepreneurial ventures like Facebook, Indiegogo, or 500 Startups, and alters the ideas and mindset of students who attend the trip for the rest of their lives.
Northwestern students dive into the heart and soul of Silicon Valley, meeting and understanding the minds of some of the most talented people in their respective industries. Between the site visits, dinners and Q&As with alums (did we mention utilizing Northwestern’s brand new downtown SF campus), real-world challenges and exploring The Bay, this immersive trip will bring a wisdom and excitement to students that can’t be found anywhere else.
We like to say that Sprout empowers students with an entrepreneurial spirit and a creative mindset to learn first-hand about entrepreneurship, innovation, problem-solving, and more from legends of The Valley. Applications for the trip open when fall quarter begins in September. The Sprout team will host info sessions around campus to raise awareness and excitement about the program.
We ask the participants to join us for several events beforehand to meet others attending the trip and for some training to ensure we all go in with great background knowledge of the companies and speakers we are visiting, and are prepared with insightful questions.
